I am waiting for a brand new SwissMicros Model DM32 to come in the mail via Swiss Post. This calculator, which has only been out for a little over a year, is famous for many reasons; not the least of which is the over $300 USD price tag. It is my first SwissMicros device and with all of the hype around nearly all of their projects within the HP calculator community, I am looking forward to the unboxing.

The device is a remake of the HP-32SII. The software is a complete rebuild and not an emulation of the original HP software-- this allows the device to take full advantage of new technology under the hood. Also, as with all SwissMicros releases from the HP Pioneer line-up, the calculator features 34-digit mantissa precision which makes it among the world's most precise pocket calculators available today.

DM32

This is not your typical adding machine. The calculator, like the HP device it follows, uses Reverse Polish notation (post-fix or RPN) for user input. This makes the use of parenthesis unnecessary and can make complicated formulas much easier to input for calculation. It is also a completely different way of understanding computation outside of the traditional in-line (or arithmetic) notation we learn in school.

I think the device is visually stunning from the promos/images and will be an exciting platform to sharpen my own RPN skills.
